After a French Masters, you get 2 years on an 'Authorisation Provisoire de Sejour' to find a job. Convert to a work visa, 5 years on that visa qualifies you for permanent residence.

Each level builds on the previous one. Most Kerala students start at A1 unless they already have some background.
A1 to A2
Greet, order food, basic conversations. Sufficient for tourist activities and some daily-life interactions. Required minimum for some courses.
B1 to B2
Required for most English-taught French Masters too (a working knowledge of French is expected). Sufficient for daily life, work conversations, internship interviews.
C1 (Native-level)
Native fluency. For PhD admissions, French-taught Masters, senior corporate roles, government-related work. Most students stop at B2 unless specifically needed.
