1.How we serve Kottayam students

IIIT Kottayam, Saintgits, Mangalam, Amal Jyothi graduates

IIIT Kottayam is a baby-IIIT focusing on IT-related branches and increasingly competitive for technical Masters abroad. Saintgits College of Engineering at Pathamuttom (NAAC A grade, NBA-accredited) and Mangalam College are the dominant private-college feeders. Amal Jyothi College of Engineering at Kanjirappally is another strong feeder. These students typically apply for Masters in CS, Data Science, AI/ML at Canadian, UK, US, and German universities.

CMI, Marian, and Baselios nursing graduates

Kottayam has a strong nursing-college ecosystem: CMI College of Nursing (Carmelite Monks), Marian College of Nursing, Mar Baselios at Kothamangalam (Ernakulam border), and several private institutions across the district. The Healthcare-to-Germany pathway is the dominant request from these graduates. The UK NMC, Ireland NMBI, and Gulf routes follow.

Diaspora-connected families

Kottayam has one of Kerala's strongest USA, Canada, and UK diaspora connections, with many families having relatives settled in these countries since the 1970s and 1980s. This shows up in our counselling: many Kottayam families come in with a destination already in mind because they have a brother, uncle, or cousin already there. Mahatma Gandhi University departments at Athirampuzha and surrounding affiliated colleges produce strong Arts, Commerce, and Science graduates. For non-engineering students, the destination mix shifts: UK (MA programmes, MBA), USA (business and finance), Canada (PG diplomas in business administration), Australia (accountancy and PR-focused programmes), and Ireland (tech and finance).

IELTS, PTE, OET test centres

British Council and IDP operate IELTS test centres in Kottayam. PTE Academic is typically taken in Kochi (the nearest Pearson centre). OET centres are in Kochi as well. Kottayam students often pair their test booking with a counselling visit to our Kochi branch on the same trip. Book directly through British Council India, IDP India, Pearson PTE, or OET official websites.

Passport office and PCC

The Regional Passport Office is in Trivandrum, but Kottayam students typically use the PSK (Passport Seva Kendra) at Ernakulam for appointments. PCC is issued by the Commissioner of Police, Kottayam, in 5 to 10 working days. Apply for PCC during the loan-application week.

Transport to our offices

To Kochi branch (VSRA-59, Vennala): 75 to 90 minutes by KSRTC bus on NH-66, or 60 to 75 minutes by train (Kottayam to Ernakulam Town), then 25 to 35 minutes by auto from Ernakulam Town to Vennala. To Trivandrum head office: 2.5 to 3 hours by train (Kottayam to Thiruvananthapuram Central), then 20 to 30 minutes by auto to Ulloor Junction.

4.How counselling works for Kottayam students

First counselling is free, 60 to 90 minutes, via video call or in-person at either office. By the end you should have a written placement plan within 5 working days.

Two notes for Kottayam students:

• Combined Kochi visits. Many Kottayam families combine a Kochi counselling visit with other errands in Kochi (IELTS booking, passport work, visiting relatives at Infopark). The Kochi branch has weekday and Saturday slots; book ahead.
