Cokonet started 16 years ago as a single SAP classroom in Trivandrum. Today, between Cokonet Academy and Cokonet Overseas, we serve thousands of Kerala families across three things that matter together: getting into the right university, learning the language that unlocks the visa and the salary, and walking into a real career on the other side.
Sixteen years, four chapters. Nothing dramatic, just consistent forward motion in the direction Kerala families have been asking for.
Founder Nikhil Gopalan starts Cokonet Academy at Ulloor Junction with a single SAP classroom. The thesis was simple: Kerala IT graduates were leaving college with textbook knowledge and no enterprise skills, and the gap was costing them their first jobs. SAP filled that gap.
Over eight years the Academy expanded from one course to 60+ across IT (SAP, Java, Python, AWS, Azure, Data), finance (CMA, CA, Tally), language (German, French, English, IELTS, OET), and design (UI/UX, digital marketing). A pattern emerged: students who learned a language alongside a tech skill kept asking us how to take the combination abroad.
Nursing graduates wanted German B2 specifically for Germany. Commerce graduates wanted UK or Australia. Tech graduates wanted Canada. Faculty for German were hired specifically for the Kerala-to-Germany pipeline. The Academy started fielding more overseas placement requests than language enquiries.
The overseas placement work outgrew the Academy structure and was spun off into a separate entity, Cokonet Overseas Pvt Ltd, with a dedicated team for visa filing, university shortlisting, and employer relationships. The defining decision: every overseas student would get one full Academy course (worth 1 lakh) bundled in for free. Nobody else in Kerala does this.
Today Cokonet serves families across Kerala through three connected pillars: Study Abroad across 12 countries, Language Training (German, French, English, IELTS, OET), and the Germany healthcare pathway. With 1 lakh of tech training, free. Two offices now: head office in Trivandrum, branch office in Kochi.
No franchise model, no acquired ownership. The founders who started Cokonet Academy in 2010 still personally oversee senior counsellor calls. That is what 16 years of continuity buys you.

Real figures, conservative where we are not 100% sure. Some are marked as placeholder until the operations team verifies the exact count.
Placeholder numbers will be replaced with operations-verified figures before launch. Real numbers are the only credible numbers.
In 2025 alone, 1.3 million Indians chose to go abroad for study or work, a record number, and Kerala punches way above its weight in that flow. The combination that drives it is unique to our state: high English literacy, strong healthcare and STEM degrees, family networks already abroad, and a labour market at home that has not kept pace with what graduates can earn elsewhere.
Germany alone has 40,000 open nursing positions right now. The UK and Ireland are running multi-year visa-shortage lists that include nurses, doctors, engineers, and tech workers. Canada is taking 500,000 permanent residents a year through Express Entry. The doors are open. The challenge is no longer whether Kerala students can go, but whether they go through someone who actually delivers.
That is the job we have signed up for.
It is easy to write feel-good lines about transparency and trust. Harder to say what you will not do, and stick to it. Here is the list.
No long-form binding contracts with hidden cancellation penalties. The engagement letter is short, the refund stages are spelled out, and you can step back at any phase before the recognition or visa filing kicks in.
We take a transparent fee from one side only, you the student, or in some pathways, the partner university. We do not take both. That is what keeps our recommendation honest.
No "guaranteed admission" claims. No "100% visa success" banners. We tell you the realistic probability of your case, and where the risk lies. Kerala parents have heard enough sales talk.
Some destinations will not work for some profiles. Some pathways have long waiting lists. Some scholarships are oversubscribed by the time you apply. We say that on the first call, not the third.
Every placeholder photo and quoted student name on our site is clearly marked as placeholder, until we have real student photos with explicit permission to publish. Stock-photo carousels of European students smiling are dishonest.
When a service is delivered by a partner (bank, forex provider, insurance underwriter, accommodation aggregator), the partner is named clearly before you sign. You always know who you are working with.
Head office at Ulloor Junction, Trivandrum. Second office at Vennala, Kochi. Counsellor calls happen by video for families elsewhere in Kerala, with periodic visiting clinics in Kozhikode.
Real institutional credentials matter more than self-described awards. Here are the formal partnerships and accreditations we actively maintain.
Some accreditations shown are example placeholders. Final list to be confirmed by the operations team with logo permissions before launch.
